Our Inspiration

There are many students who struggle to keep up with their class notes during class. There are so many notes to take in such little time. This inspired our team to come up with this app to make student’s or anyone’s lives a little easier.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide people with a way to turn handwritten notes into organized documents on your smart phone. This app is designed to take a quick picture of notes whether it’s on a blackboard, notebook, or computer and bring them into the cyber world where you can edit them and send to other people. No more messy loose-leaf and losing notes. CTRL Camera will keep all your notes safe and neat where you can easily access them and study. Augment your text, augment your reality.

Augment your text.

Augment your reality.

Bring your notes into the digital world with CTRLcamera

The goal of our app is to provide an easy and efficient way to turn handwritten notes into an accessible text document on your smart phone. Take a picture of any physical text - your handwritten math notes, a love letter to your significant other, a url off a poster hanging in the wall.

Through CTRLcamera’s advanced OCR technology, your written text will automatically be converted into an editable and accessible text document. Make changes without erasing, send copies to your friends, or visit a website without ever having to type out a long URL again.

There are many students who struggle to keep up with their class notes during class. There are so many notes to take in such little time. This inspired our team to come up with this app. We are all collaborative team members who discuss our ideas and offer our opinions. We discussed how we can transform physical text to editable documents and came up with this fine app called CTRLcamera. The purpose of this app is to make student’s or anyone’s lives a little easier by organizing their notes in a single place. We have plenty of communication between each other and members are carefully listened to. We all receive thoughtful feedback and team decisions are made using organized, logical methods.

Our target demographic for the application is students (ranging from the ages of 14 up to 26) and working individuals of all ages (especially if those individuals are in a white-collar industry).  Because of how wide the age range was, there really was no vetting of ages on the survey (granted this app could have been used in several different work, student, and personal scenarios).  The survey was distributed online through email chains, word of mouth and social media such as Twitter and Facebook.  46 responses in total were collected before the following data was derived.

A majority of 43.5% of subjects polled (20 people) stated they find themselves copying texts or links often.  37% (17 people) said they do this very often. A majority of 47.8% of subjects polled (22 people) stated they use a notes app on their respective phone often. Browsing the internet and texting were the most frequent actions done by subjects polled (with 29 saying they browse the internet "extremely often" on their phone and 34 saying they text "extremely often").  Managing and sending emails seems to be an activity balanced between "often" and "extremely often" rates, with 17 subjects on either side (though it must be addressed 9 subjects claimed to manage and send emails "sometimes" and 3 claimed "not often".  Subjects surveyed claimed to take notes with a center between "sometimes" and "often" rates (respectively, 14 subjects for the former and 13 for the latter). A majority of 80.4% of subjects (37 people) claimed to take notes with pen/pencil and paper, while 17.4% (8 people) claimed to do so electronically.  2.2% (1 person) claimed "other/non-applicable". 37% of subjects polled claimed they would find the CTRLcamera app helpful with a 4 out of 5 ranking (17 subjects), while 39.1% gave a 5 out of 5 ranking (18 people).  It is worth noting also that nobody out of the poll gave lower than a 2 ranking, and of subjects asked whether they would USE an app such as CTRLcamera, 93.5% claimed they indeed would (43 subjects out of 46).

Our Survey Results

CTRLcamera offers an excellent opportunity for our investors to purchase stock! We offer to our benefactors a share reinvestment plan as well, if they so choose to place greater stakes in our earnings. Our revenues would come from two sources: advertising and app payments. This averages to about $1.99 per consumer using the app, adjusting for the paid price and the revenue that would come from ad companies following every new download.

Within the first five years of the app’s lifespan, we expect to see the user base grow steadily, but from small numbers (the user base will have just passed $250,000 in total revenue by the fifth year). After this point, hiring of employees will start to reach higher rates and we expect to see the amounts of revenue coming from consumer payments/downloads per year surpassing the amount of venture capital put into the application.
